DAYTON OPENING SATURDAY Everything in Readiness for Inaugural of Nineteen-Day Summer Meeting Officials on Hand. DAYTON, Ohio, June 5. With the opening of the nineteen-day summer meeting of the Dayton Jockey Club set for Saturday more than 250 horses already are quartered on the ground and as many as one hundred more are expected "before the end of the week. Fifty are due from Latonia and a similar number from Columbus, where the Beulah Park meeting closed last Saturday. For the first time the Bahr gate will be used to dispatch the fields at this sporty little half mile course. Fields will be limited to ten horses in all races except those at six and a half furlongs in which only eight will be permitted to start. Minimum purses will be 00 and the program provides for seven races a day, the first of which is scheduled for 2:15 p. m. All the officials for the meeting already are on hand. William Dangman is presiding steward, and will be assisted by J. J. Graddy. John I. Kissane is racing secretary and associated with him are B. H. Held, assistant racing secretary, and J. L. Watkins, entry clerk. The other officials are Herbert J. Kohl, clerk of scales; E. W. Stribling, paddock and patrol judge; William R. Harris, starter, and Albert H. Melcher, manager of mu-tuels.
