f j CLANG MAY COMPETE OVER j LONGER DISTANCES t i NEW ORLEANS, La., March 31 According to present plans of W. R. Sallee, trainer of John F. Clark, Jr.s speedy four-year-old, Clang, a busy campaign during the Narra-gansett Park spring meeting is being planned for the four-year-old son of Stimulus Chickashaw. Owner Clark and trainer Sallee viewed Clang in a mile gallop Monday and pronounced him as fit as aNCidjlle and ready to cope with the speedsters of tiie New England section. Though Clark had originally planned to remain in New Orleans until fhe weather warms up more in the East, he decided to change his plans and send his star performer to Narragansett, then to New York for a whirl at some of the big stakes offered at the Metropolitan tracks. Though it is generally believed that Clang is at his best in sprints, it is probable that he will be found among the starters in some of the rich distance stakes this year, as both owner Clark and trainer Sallee are convinced that Clang is capable of negotiating a distance with success.: and
