BRIGHT PLUMAGES FAST MILE MIAMI, Fla., March 31 C. V. Whitneys Derby Consolation eligible, Bright Plumage, was sent a mile as his final important prep for Saturdays stake after the second race at Tropical Park today. The Whitney candidate for Kentucky Derby laurels was caught in 1:39 with the fractions as follows: :12, :24, :36, :48, 1:00, 1:13, 1:26. Hard held throughout, the colt never appeared to be tiring at the finish. Jockey George Rose was in the saddle. Immediately following the trial of Bright Plumage, Southland Stables Ceiling, also a Derby Consolation eligible, was sent nine furlongs in the following time: :48, 1:13, 1:39, 1:52. 1
