Warren Wright of Chicago is said to have a colt in his stable good enough to win the Kentucky Derby. This is Count Morse, a eon of Reigh Count, winner of the Derby in 1928. Count Morse bucked shins last year when he loomed up promisingly and is said to have wintered exceptionally well. This is the colt which was reported to have worked a half in :44 over the Widener course at Belmont Park last fall. Top Flight, unbeaten as a two-year-old and the largest winner at that age, likewise the; worlds greatest money-winning race mare, has been booked to Peace Chance, Belmont Stakes winner, which was leased by J. E. Widener to C. V. Whitney for three years. J. E. Widener not only has a great chance to win the Kentucky Derby, with Brevity, but also may carry off the coveted French Derby with his colt Fastnet, a son of Pharos, which won three out of four races last year as a two-year-old. Ormonda, dam of Brevity, favorite for the Kentucky Derby, was bred in Virginia by H. T. Oxard and sold to W. Shea for 00. She won a total of 6,170 for Shea, who sold her to J. E. Widener for ,500. The Satrap, own brother to Tetratema, which was bought by W. Dupont in 1926 and exported to the United States, has returned to England and now stands at Dale and Dalziels stud, at Rudgcwick, Sussex. Eleven French horses have been entered in the "Brown Ribbon," Germanys richest racing event, which will be run at Munich on July 26. Equipoise will be bred to Dustemall, dam of Red Rain, this season. The first foals by Equipoise are reported most promising. Brownie Carslakc, the former Australian jockey, has returned to England from India, where he rode during the winter. Steve Donoghue has received an offer to ride for Leon Volterra in France this year.
