DIXIE DAN, in motion at the start, broke fast, was taken under restraint for the first three-quarters, moved up fast on the outside, closed with a rush in the stretch, wore down GOOGIE and won handily. GOOGIE, close to the early pace, raced BLUE FOAM into submission, drew away into a good lead on the lower turn, saved ground entering the stretch, but could not hold the winner. POMPOHONE, well placed in the early running, dropped back slightly on the lower turn, came to the outside in the stretch and was going gamely at the end. BLUE FOAM showed early speed, was in close quarters on the turn and tired in the last eighth. ELIHU was outrun. Overweight Genie Jr., 2 pounds. Corrected weight Googie, 114. EIGHTH RACE 1 MILE.
