DOZEN IN ENQUIRER HANDICAP Best Handicap Horses Now in Kentucky Named to Compete in ,000 Latonia Feature. LATONIA, Ky.; June 12. Twelve of the top .notchers. of the handicap ranks, per-, forming in this section, were named" in the overnight entries for, the nineteenth running of the ,660 Padded jSnquirer Handicap, .mile and a sixteenth contest which will serVe as the feature on Latonias program Saturday afternoon. In addition to the purse a coveted trophygoes to the victor of the Enquirer, with E- R- McLean as the donor. . .Marynell, the Long Run Stables consistent and fleet five-year-old mare which came from Detroit to try for the rich stake, ruled the ante-post choice over the" eleven others made eligible for the race, as the result of her numerous successes previous to her arrival here. Trainer Walter Grater of the Long Run Stable pronounced his charge in excellent condition for the engagement and expressed satisfaction . following Marynell s recent mile trial in 1:42 in handy fashion. D. B. Midkiff and H. Wells Tearout, winner of the Latonia Derby in 1935 and a recent arrival frbmf Hawthorne, expressly for the purpose of starting in the Enquirer Handicap, is regarded as the chief contender for the major honors and is expected to furnish some stern competition for Marynell. Jockey Willie Hanka has been secured to guide Tearout in his handicap performance, while A. Morgan will don the Long Run. Stables silks to handle Marynell. Louise J. Hickmans Dusty Dawn will carry the weight of 116 pounds against the 110 pounds assigned Marynell by handicap-per W. H. Shelley. Prospects for a fast track were considered bright and preparations have been made for one of the largest turnouts of racing fans of the current meeting, according to officials I of the Latonia Jockey Club.
