Six of the nations fastest horses will bid for the historic Carter. Handicap, oldest of the Queens County Jockey Clubs stakes, at Aqueduct tomorrow; afternoon, with the field headed by that doughty sprinting star, Sation, which is called upon to shoulder 132 pounds for the dash of seven: furlongs. The Carter will be well worth winning, having a gross value of ,100 with a half dozen contestants, of which ,000 is contributed by the association and the successful speedster will collect ,200. Supporting the Carter are six other events, the most important of which are the Charade Handicap, one mile, and: a five furlongs test for better two-year-olds. Among the opponents of the George D. Widener veteran, which will be making his first start since he was cuffed about in the Metropolitan Handicap four weeks ago, are Good Gamble and Good Harvest, comprising Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts entry. Good Gamble was victorious in the Queens County Handicap at one mile on Monday and Good Harvest, third in that event, triumphed in the Metropolitan. The speedy Clang, holder of the worlds record for six furlongs and sharing with Roseben the honor of having run the fastest seven furlongs, split the Vanderbilt pair in the Queens County under an impost of 110 pounds, the same weight to be carried today by the representative of J. F. Clark, Jr. Sation, which is accounted the nations best sprinter, has shown more speed than any of the Carter candidates, his most important trial having been a mile in 1:38 the other morning at Belmont Park. In a previous workout the six-year-old gelded son of Galetian and Salacia went six furlongs in 1:12. In his first start this season, Sation won the Jamaica Handicap, running the six furlongs in 1:10 under an impost of 128 pounds to defeat Miss Merriment by three lengths. He carried 135 pounds in the Toboggan Handicap, only to lose by a length to Singing Wood after being in early trouble. He finished out of the picture in the Metropolitan with 128 pounds up and has not raced since.
