GOOD PROGRAM AT RIVERSIDE j Three Ds Favorite Child Furnishes j Upset in Opening Contest Large Ladies Day Crowd. KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 12. Another ideal day for racing greeted the large crowd that turned out at Riverside Park to witness an eight-race program, which attracted well-balanced fields in the majority of the events. It was again Ladies Day, and a large number of the fair sex turned out as guests of the management. The opening race on the program was for two-year-old maiden fillies, at four and one-half furlongs, and twelve of that age and sex went postward, with the winner turning up in the Three Ds Stock Farms Favorite Child, an outsider in the wagering, which triumphed over the Gillespie Land and Irrigation Co.s Gloria G. by the shortest of margins, with Mrs. E. Tillers Swing Corners easily the best of the others. From the start, Lady Marsco was the first to show in front and was quickly joined by Favorite Child and this pair raced closely lapped on each other for the first three-eighths, and then Favorite Child drew away and opened up a clear lead and held on well to cross the finish line a short nose in front of Gloria G. The race was marred by a fall when Fair Gem went down shortly after the start, but fortunately jockey D. Barnett was not hurt. Donerina carried the colors of the local owner, Lee Erb, to victory in the running of the second race over the futurity course, in which twelve maiden three-year-olds and older accepted the issue, and Airglide was installed a short-priced; favorite.
