Bringing together all the leading sprinters of three years or older campaigning in this section, the race may bring out more speed than any since Clang sped over the same six and pne-half furlongs in 1:17 last September. Outstanding among those named for the stake are Chanceview, winner of the Hawthorne Decoration Day Handicap; Myrtle-wood, fresh from a triumph in Latonias Quickstep Handicap; the consistent veteran Billy Jones; Billy Bee, a highly-respected invader for the race, and such others as Whiskolo, Rock X., Toro Nancy, Transmut-able and Where Away. Sandstone, Buck Langhorne, Recovery, Mr. James, Silent Shot and Inscona complete the field. Top weight of 120 pounds will be carried by Chanceview and the W. F. Flanigan performer is seen as one of the choices, if not the actual favorite. Asked to shoulder 119 pounds, the filly Myrtlewood is top weighted under the scale but the fleet Brownell Combs four-year-old has so much quality that her following will be a large one, the severity of her task notwithstanding. Milky Way Farms Whiskolo with 116 pounds; Bomar Stables Billy Bee with 115 and T. C. Wordens Billy Jones with 114 pounds are next in the weights. Imposts for the others range from 113 pounds for Toro Nancy to Sandstones minimum assignment of 100.
