HAPPY FIND obtained racing room on the inside to move into the lead when reaching the turn, drew clear when straightened into the stretch and came out smartly approaching the finish. SEEMEGO, in the thick of contention early, closed with good courage when the final drive came. HASTY BELLE was unable to stride freely when hemmed in on the rail in the first half mile, but finished gamely when clear. SEMESTER lacked speed to keep with the pacemakers after getting away nicely, but finished stoutly in the late stages. BARTER improved his position gradually in the last three-sixteenths. THE MINER tired in the last quarter mile. BLACK DIAMOND had a rough trip. KIBITZER finished stoutly. CONTRIBUTE quit, as did SHEPHERD BOY. ROYAL VINTAGE, sluggish in the early running, obtained racing room on the inside when moving up strongly entering the stretch, responded to severe punishment in the closing eighth while close to the rail and came away in the last sixteenth after moving into the lead. ROSEPATH showed good speed while setting the pace, was overtaken midway of the stretch, but continued resolutely to the end. RIDEAU finished determinedly after being straightened into the stretch. SILVIRIS was stoutly ridden all the way and had no mishaps. PARMA VIOLET had a lot taken out of her raring with ROSEPATH and tired after moving into a short lead in the last eighth. PITCHBLENDE met with slight interference at the turn, then finished gamely when clear. MADFAST raced poorlv. KHAKI JOHN tired carlv. CARISBROOKE moved into a short lead soon after the start, was rated until nearing the stretch, moved clear quickly when mildlv shaken up and was under restraint at the close. PLAIN BEN raced close to the winner for a half mile, but was not pood enough when placed to a severe drive. BAYDROP was under stout urging all the way and held on gamely in the final test. SAM WORTHY could not better his position. NELL KUHLMAN could not make up any ground at any stage. DESERT CALL was held safe all the way. Overweight Baydrop, 1 pound. MISS MONOA assumed a short lead in the opening eighth, stalled off keen contention from Tnrv ilihY in the first five eighths, rallied to punishment in the closing eighth and came out steadily nearing the end. TREY forced a fast pace until straichtened into the stretch, then tired under a hard drive. QUICKLY was rated close to the leaders in the early stages, was placed to punishment entering the stretch, but lailed to make up any ground after making a bold spurt nearing the final eighth post. SHOELESS JOE could not improve his position when hard urged. BIT OF SORROW closed an immense gap after being practically left. BAY SISTER was away very slowly and had no chance. EPICURUS had nice speed from the start, disposed of CHICKPEN after a half mile, saved ground throughout and hung on gamely when challenged by EASTER HATTER. The latter, reserved in the early racing, movtd up stoutly on the far turn, made determined efforts to overtake the leader and was wearing him down at the end. LADY MARNOCK, a contender at all times, hung on well. NO RETREAT lacked early speed, but closed stoutly. CHICKPEN forced the fast early pace, but quit badly after three-quarters. TRICKYS SON attempted to move up on the inside after a half mile, but lacked speed. Scratched 27323 Monsweep, 122. PAPALICO, going in his best form, sprinted into an easy lead when reaching the back stretch, saved ground all the way and had something in reserve at the end. CHRYSMUTE, placed on the outside for the start, raced close up in the early racing and came with good, energy when put to a hard drive in the last five-sixteenths. MOTLEY worked his way up on the outside, rallied to punishment and closed stoutly. CRINOLINE raced below her best form and was unable to threaten at any stage. WINGED FLIGHT lacked speed and was never a factor. LEAROYD crossed over sharply in the first sixteenth and blocked LAW SUIT. He raced forwardly for three-quarters, then tired. LAW SUIT, impeded shortly after the start, moved through on the inside leaving the back stretch, but faltered badly "after entering contention. DENCLAIRE opened up a commanding lead when reaching the back stretch, rallied to pressure when straightened into the stretch and held DEEDIE safe nearing the end. The latter, reserved off the pace for the first three-quarters, moved up gamely when put to a drive, but could not reach the winner when the real test came. BAGGATAWAY raced prominently all the way and came courageously for the closing drive.- w VIRADO improved his position while saving a lot of cround, but could not trouble the leaders.
