OUR SPOT showed good early speed and, while no match for the winner, held the others safe. MY MODEL tired in the stretch. PRAIRIE KING, usually a very fast beginner, was permitted to drop many lengths back in the early stages and. although making up some ground in the stretch, was never dangerous and can do better. CAREFUL KITTY, close to the pace from the start, moved up strongly to challenge ALKALI around the stretch turn and, taking a short lead in the run home, held TOMBEREAU safe. The latter made his move at the same time as the winner and raced well to the finish. TRILLIUM was badly outrun early, but closed fastest. ALKALI had the most early speed, was taken back when headed around the stretch turn, but saved ground and came again when punished, then dropped back when his rider stopped using the whip in the final eighth. LADY MARLBORO, well rated in the early running, came very fast after leaving the back stretch and, although swinging a trifle wide in the stretch, picked up the early leaders to win going away. BOILING POINT showed good form and turned in a good effort, but could not resist the winner. THISTLE GUY made up much ground under urging. HIGH IMAGE quit badly in the stretch. The latter gained gradually, came strongly through the stretch and might have won but for swerving a trifle in the final sixteenth. EASTER TOMMY was used up making the pace and tired. BRIM-FIELD was permitted to drop too far out of it in the early running and might have been dangerous under energetic handling. LITTLE INA was used up in the first three-quarters. PAT W. tired badly. QUIVER was badly outrun for a half mile, then came very fast and was going strongly at the finish. PLAYSICKLE raced to the front to make the pace, but tired in the stretch. RESPECT was close up in the early running, but prefers a soft track. LANTY BOY, given a fine ride, saved all possible ground in the early stages, but was not eood enough. TWO TRICKS came over on STAR ROYAL at the start, forcing the latter into close quarters, then took a good lead around the first turn and, well rated, held sway to the end. TUMBLE IN was closest to the winner at all times and showed a good effort. ERECH closed well. STAR ROYAL was taken up all through the first quarter while in close quarters next to the rail and performed in creditable fashion. ROYAL JULIA could not raise a respectable gallop. RACKETEER lacked speed and was cased up in the final sixteenth.
