BELLE MYSTERY raced to the front at once and, opening up a good lead while making the pace, saved ground where possible and held BUBBLER at the end. BUBBLER was never far from the pace and staged a game run in the stretch, but pulled up slightly lame. EIGHTH POLE was permitted to race beyond the middle of the track in the stretch, closed well and could not get up, but might have won under competent handling. LONGUS made several moves under inconsistent handling. OATEN was rushed up too fast on the back stretch and had little left. SEVENTH RACE 1 1-8 MILES. David Harum, Sept. 26, 19231:526109. LONESOME PINE, although in close quarters early, performed poorly. BROWN IDYLL was done after going three-quarters. Overweight Brown Idyll, 2 pounds. RUTH JELINEK, close up all the way, raced BUGABOO into submission, took a short lead nearing the end, but could not withstand the winner. BUGABOO lost ground at the first turn, was rushed into the lead in the back stretch, saved ground thereafter, but tired in the final drive. TEENY WEENY was outrun. FANDAN broke slowly. JODHPUR, far back early, gained gradually and was going well at the end. HENRY DEW, far back for the first three-quarters, finished gamely, PROBATIONER tired badly. CHEHALIS quit.
