Weaver, veteran trainer, was suspended for sixty days and denied the privileges of the course today, under a ruling handed down by the Latpnia stewards .for violation of the rule regarding the stimulation of horses. According to the stewards, a saliva test taken of the horse Grey Friar, which won the sixth race here on June 11, showed the presence of strychnine. The horse paid 42.20 straight, 36.G0 to place and 8.80 to show. Jockey Glen Fowler rode the horse. Grey Friar is owned by W. E. Smith, of Louisville, a member of the Kentucky State Racing Commission. The wording of the ruling, signed by the Latonia stewards, follows: "Under the provisions of Rule 240-B., J. T. Weaver, trainer of the horse Grey Friar, is suspended for sixty days and denied the privileges of the course. On June 11, at Latonia, a saliva sampling of said horse was taken and submitted for analysis to John Brendan, chemist, by said commission. Such analysis was positive and disclosed the presence of the alkaloid strychnine."
