CHOJNACKI HAS AN OFF-DAY Fails to Win With Odds-On Choice in Opener at Omaha Ten Thousand Watch Races. OMAHA, Neb., June 13. Apprentice F. Chojnacki dropped a few notches in the estimation of the Omaha public when he failed to pilot a winner Friday and was beaten on a couple of short-priced horses in the first two races Saturday. A crowd of about 10,000 saw Chojnacki pilot Prairie King, an odds-on choice, out of the money in the opening race and fail to land any part of the purse with Alkali, the second choice, in the second affair. Prairie King, considered the fastest of tho Nebraska-breds and in fact one of the fastest beginners on the grounds, was the medium of a heavy play in the opening race, but Chojnacki could never have him better than fourth. The little rider was in front with Alkali in the second race but that animal was beaten by Careful Kitty, Tombereau and Trillium in that order. The Nebraska-bred race was won by Bald Eagle, which recently was badly beaten by Prairie King. Bald Eagle ran a strong race to get to the front in the stretch and win going away. Our Spot, two-time winner at the meeting, was second, and My Model third.
