RIVERSIDES UNUSUAL CARD Eight. Races Run at One Mile or Over Attendance Is Far Above ; the Average. KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 13. An unusual card was presented Saturday at Riverside Park, when the program of eight races were all decided at one mile or over, and in most of the races small, but well matched fields went postward. The weather was ideal for the sport, and one of the largest : crowds of the meeting turned out for the afternoons entertainment. The initial race on the card brought together a small field of eight non-winners at. a mile or over this year, and Lightnin Bill, from the stable of Mrs. J. G. Vaughn, earned his first set of brackets in two years, when he easily led home the field at the end of the mile route. Four lengths back of the winner came E. OConnells Dr. : Spoon, with E. Dotys Manly saving third from H. T. Deahls Roll Home. At the start Monde took command, but was soon outrun by Mike Reynolds, and the latter went out to set the pace with Monde second and Lightin Bill close up in third position. As the field approached the half-mile pole, Mike Reynolds had enough, and Lightin Bill was sent into the lead, which he increased steadily and easily shook off a challenge from Dr. Spoon inside the final eighth mile, and was going away again at the end. The winner was third choice in the wagering, and paid 0.00 for the usual ticket.
