JEWELL DORSETT, under steadying restraint while in closest pursuit of the pacemaker, raced to the front when reaching the stretch and drew clear inside the last eighth. WILLOW BUD displayed keen speed from the start and held on well, but was no match for the winner in the closing test. SWIFT FLASH, shuffled back soon after the start, worked her way up on the inside leaving the back stretch and closed with good energy. CONSISTENT was prominent all the way, but was no match for the leader. BALA-DINE, far back early, closed with good energy in the closing test. PATTY COMIXA moved up stoutly on the outside rounding the far turn and was unable to make up any ground through the last quarter mile. SLEEP WELL suffered some interference in the first eighth. STILL ALARM was not hurried during the early stages, began moving up after leaving the back stretch, wore down BERNARDINE W. for the lead and held RAMS HEAD safe at the end. The latter, weakly handled, trailed his field while under steadying restraint, moved up on the inside rounding the far turn, was taken to the outside in the stretch and, closing stoutly, was overtaking the winner rapidly at the close. MARCLEAVE was a forward factor all the way, forced the early pace and was unable to improve his position in the final drive. BERNARDINE W. displayed good speed in paccmaking and tired fast through the last ighth. GALLOPING had speed for a half mile. Scratched 28193 Thistle Air, 115; 15386 Edile, 110. DIXIE PRINCESS was steadied along in back of the pace, raced to the front when LEE GOLD began tiring and, hard ridden through the stretch, lasted to hold MAPLE QUEEN. The latter forced the early pace and continued stubbornly in the final drive. DIRIGIBLE, away fast, lacked speed to keep pace and dropped back steadily through the opening quarter mile, began working his way up steadily thereafter and closed determinedly. STRENUOUS, lacking her usual early speed, worked her way up gradually and finished with good energy. BLESSED EVENT, unable to keep pace early, closed with good courage in the stretch run. LEE GOLD displayed keen early speed, faltering in the last three-sixteenths. HEEDLESS GAL, well placed, was unable to improve her position when placed under pressure. JUBILARGO loomed up threateningly on the inside nearing the stretch, only to falter in the drive. TALKED ABOUT, away well and steadied along in back of the early pace, responded gamely when called upon and, wearing down CONSERVATIVE, drew out steadily in the closing sixteenth. CONSERVATIVE, quickest to begin, drew away into a good lead and, despite holding on gamely, was no match for the winner when challenged. BANJORINE gained a prominent jlosition in the opening strides and raced well placed throughout, but was unable to close any ground when called upon. CASINGHEAD was on the outside throughout. SPIXI was well placed throughout and held on willingly to the end. ACCOLADE was under urging while racing well placed, but was unable to improve his position in the closing drive. NIGHT SPRITE, a particularly fast starter, drew clear in the opening strides, but faltered after going a half mile. SOCIETY COLUMN was taken under slight restraint after gaining a prominent position in the run to tho first turn, moved through on the inside nearing the far turn and, taking the lead in the stretch, drew out steadily despite bearing out through the last sixteenth. SEEDLING, far back for the first three-quarters, came stoutly in the stretch run. BE JUST, outrun to the first turn, was rated along under steadying restraint and faltered in the last three-sixteenths. THE DAUPHIN, a trailer until reaching the stretch, closed, some ground in the closing drive. MANNERLY loomed up menacingly on the outside leaving the back stretch, retiring thereafter. STROLLING HOME was unable to enter into serious contention. EXAGGERATION was a forward factor for tho first five-eighths, but tired badly thereafter. EIGHTH RACE 1 MILE AND 70 YARDS. GOLDEN SEPTRE, on the outside around the first turn, raced wide all the way and came gamely in tho stretch run. TACK, under hard urging, began moving up on the inside, loomed up threateningly r.oaring the stretch, but was unable to keep pace in the closing test. DUTCH UNCLE never could reach the loaders. PRINCE POMPEY showed good early speed, faltering in the last five-sixteenths. COUNT DEAN was outrun all the way.
