VAN HASTINGS, hustled into a Ion? lead in the first half mile, bore out badly on the lower turn, lost ground entering the stretch, but held on camcly. THISTLE ACE. far back early, saved around on the lower turn, moved into a contending position in the stretch, but stumbled badly a sixteenth out and might have been best. SHASTA BOY, away well but in close ouartcrs on the lower turn, was forced to take back, and came to the outside to finish gamely. SKY GLARE and SKY RHONDA both tired badly. MY DAINTY, in motion at the break and away fast, took command at once, shook off SERAPHIC KNIGHT in the stretch, but had to be ridden out to hold TORCHEEN safe. The latter, outrun early, saved ground all the way, was on the inside during the stretch run arid was wearing the winner down. SERAPHIC KNIGHT showed early speed, forced a fast pace, but tired in the last eighth. WHISTLING BOY was well up for the first half mile, then tired. MARCHING MAN showed a good effort. DONNAPEEP showed good early speed and held on well. WINSOME LASS was pinched back in the back stretch, saVed ground in the last quarter mile and was going gamely at the end. CATWALK tired badly. DONCARA threw her rider three times on the way to the post and was ordered scratched by the stewards and all money wagered on her was refunded.
