THUNDER LOU PROVES GAMEST Outstays The Nile in Stretch Duel at Northampton Park Balducci Escapes Injury. AKRON, Ohio, June 23. In a rousing stretch duel W. J. Sprows Thunder Lou wore down The Nile during the closing stages of the Massillon Purse, headliner of the Northampton Park card this afternoon. After setting the pace until midway in the stretch, The Nile failed to withstand the winners challenge and was hard pressed at the end to save second from the fast-finishing Donna Barona. Rain threatened near the end of the proceedings, but the races were decided over a fast track and a fairly good-sized crowd witnessed some fine formful racing. Jockey A. Balducci escaped serious injury when Blushing Girl stumbled and fell with him shortly after the start of the second race, but he canceled his remaining engagements.
