PHRIXUS was prominent from the start, lost considerable ground at the stretch turn, was soon straightened out, regained command nearing the close, but was unable to cope with the winner. FITKIN was a forward factor throughout, but tired slightly in the closing strides. DASH IN closed a good gap. DOUGLAS F. was prominent lor a half mile, but tired. TUGBOAT FRANK, outrun early, closed a big gap, but could never reach the First two. SUN ARCHER made up some ground, but was never able to enter into contention. BOSTON BROOK had early speed. DON GUZMAN trailed for most of the trip and passed tired horses in the last eighth. BUBBLE-SOME had good speed, but was forced to take up sharply leaving the back stretch. MORALIST was well placed from the start, dropped back but came again to wear down BOOCAP for third. The latter gained a forward position after reaching the back stretch, moved up and while unable to reach the leaders, faltered in the last sixteenth. ORTHOPRISM was never prominent.
