BELMONT PARK STATISTICS Pompoon Heads Money Winners and Lowers Worlds Record. Bushranger Slakes Clean Sweep of Steeplechase Prizes Hirsch Jacobs, as Usual, Heads the Trainers. Staging such time-honored and famous races as the Futurity, Lawrence Realization, Jockey Club Gold Cup, Matron Stakes and Jerome Handicap, as feature attractions, the Westchester Racing Associations fifteen-day meeting at Belmont Park was an unqualified success, attendance figures reaching a new record foe recent years. Winning one race, the Futurity, means first place among the money winners for both owner and the winning animal. Pom-poon, sporting the colors of J. H. Louchheim, one of Americas most enthusiastic turfmen, did more than that when he also lowered the worlds record and set a new mark for six and a half furlongs over the straight Widencr course at the great Nassau County track. Pompoons time was 1:16, one-fifth of- a second faster than the old worlds record for the distance. Pompoon earned 6,790 by his victory and it gave Louchheim aN total of 6,865 for the meeting. Following Louchheim in the winning owners list was the Belair Stud, with 1,445; Calumet Farm, 6,625; J: E. Widcner, 5,060; Mrs. W. M. Jeffords, 2,075; and Mrs. John Hertz, with 0,655. Pompoon had a bis margin over his rival money winners, Granville, victorious in the Lawrence Realization, earning 9,550; Privileged, winner of the Champagne Stakes and second in the Futurity, adding 4,000 to his owners coffers; Wand, Matron Stakes victress, winning 2,075, and Bushranger, home first in the Broadhollow, Brook- and Grand National Steeplechase Handicaps, enriching his owner 0,025. J. Stout, riding twenty winners, romped away with saddle honors, while Hirsch Jacobs saddled eight victorious horses to be the leading trainer for the meeting, not a new sensation for the canny Brooklyn horseman. The average daily distribution for the fifteen days of racing, from September 17 to October 3, was 6,208, the total amouni of prizes being 43,120.
