RETURN TO THE RACES OF T. D. TAGGARTS SILKS LEXINGTON, Ky., April 20. Thomas D. Taggart has returned to French Lick Springs after spending a few days here as the guest of Howard Oots. During his stay, Taggart watched two fillies of his own breeding carry his racing colors at Keene-land. It was the first time the once famous Taggart silks have been in a race for nearly a half dozen years. When he temporarily retired from racing he disposed of his stock but retained a few brood mares which have been quartered on the Oots farm. Marica, which finished second in the Phoenix Handicap on Saturday, and Sun-berra, third in a juvenile event on Monday, are both daughters of the Taggart-owned mare, Canberra. It is Taggarts intention to race only a modest stable, each member of which shall be of his own breeding. Basing his prediction on the advance reservations at his French Lick Springs Hotel, Taggart believes that the Kentucky Derby this year will be witnessed by the largest crowd in its history.
