STORMY SEA obtained a slight advantage at the start and, saving ground throughout, quickly shook off NOTICING after straightening up in the stretch and, continuing with fine speed, held sway to the end. BIRTHDAY, lucky to keep up when in close quarters early, closed with determination when under strong urging in the final quarter and wore down NOTICING in the closing strides. The latter displayed good speed from the start and held on fairly well. AL-HIGH appeared to swerve to the inside shortly after the start, but was straightened up quickly and showed a fair effort, though tiring in the last eighth. ROMAINE began slowly. CANDLE ENDS had to be taken up on the stretch turn and had little chance thereafter. NUTRUSH suffered interference and was inclined to bear out. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE. SILVER BRAID, away fast and having good speed, easily raced MY CHICKADEE into submission, opened up a commanding advantage under brisk pressure and, ridden out, won with little left. MANRICO, jostled about early and slow to respond when clear, came between horses when improving its position and finished resolutely. MARVEL PLAY, fairly well up from the start, raced wide entering the stretch and came again when straightened. CATNAP, away slowly, steadily improved its position. and was going stoutly in the final stages. WHIPSTITCH tired. MY CHICKADEE had speed and swerved when tiring. BALLAH began slowly. SHATTERPROOF, also away well, was rated under snug restraint for a half mile and closed well under vigorous urgine. NAVARRE dropped back on the turn, but rallied after reaching the last three-sixteenths. SHOOTIN HIGH, away in a tangle and raced wide throughout, made a mild bid after reaching the final quarter, but faltered in the late stages. ALICE G., away fast but reserved off the pace, raced wide and failed to rally to only mild urging. WHITE SAND and SCOTTISH MARY began poorly. BEAUTY SLEEP had early speed. The latter saved ground throughout, was strongly handled, but tired after about five-eighths. LUXURO had speed, but tired after a half mile. PAT C. was taken back when racing prominently, but was in close quarters and raced wide thereafter. CAPTAIN HENRY quit. SCREEN began slowly and showed nothing. GLINT, away slowly and badly outrun for five-eighths, raced wide when improving its position thereafter. REELAWAY tired after showing good speed to the stretch. ODDESA CLARK had no mishaps.
