BROOEYN MAKING DEBUT TODAY AT LEXINGTON TRIAL PURSE FEATURE Billionaire, Chigre and Old Nassau Also Among Eligibles. White Tie Creates Excitement During Morning Work Hours by Unseating Rider Twice. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 20. Interest in the Kentucky Derby quickened here today with a number of important workouts and, announcement of tomorrows Keeneland program, which will be featured by the Trial Purse, engaging a half dozen eligibles to the Churchill Downs classic, including E. R. Bradleys team of Billionaire and Brooklyn. Opposing these colts in the trial, a mile and a sixteenth affair under allowance conditions, will be A. C. Ernest3 Albubble; H. C. Applegates Chigre; E. W. Duffys Grey Gold, and Hal Price Headleys Old Nassau. Rail birds were treated to an extra amount of excitement during training hours this morning when White Tie, the Manhasset Stables Derby hopeful and a winner on opening day, twice unseated his rider, jockey Hilton Dabson. Neither the horse nor the rider were injured. Trainer John Gaver had intended to work the son of High Time and Highland Dell a mile, and had instructed Dabson to start him off at the mile post near the lower turn, but the colt bolted as if to break through the gap leading to his stable. White Tie was quickly caught and Dabson remounted, breaking him at the three-quarters post. Under steady restraint White Tie went the first quarter in :24, half mile in :48ts, and three-quarters in 1:13. Completing seven furlongs in 1:25 at the mile post, the Manhasset colt again bolted and, unseating Dabson, ran away the short distance to his stable. It was estimated that he would have finished out the mfle in 1:39. DELLOR IMPRESSES. Dellor, James W. Parrishs colt which finished third to Columbiana and Finance in the Widener Challenge Cup, was sent a mile by trainer John Goode in preparation for his engagement Saturday in the Ben All I Handicap. Accompanied by the filly Miney, Dellor went the first quarter in :24, the half ! in :4S, and five-eighths in 1:01, after which he forged away from his stablemate to be timed the six furlongs in 1:14. The son of Rolled Stocking and Gossip Avenue went the seven furlongs in 1:28, and the full distance in 1:41, handily, with Miney about six lengths behind. He was under steady urging at the end. Tom B. Youngs Paris Prince, a Derby and Blue Grass Stakes eligible, also went a mile, being timed in 1:4154, driving, the first half mile in :48, the three-quarters in 1:15. The Prince of Bourbon gelding is expected to make an early appearance under silks. Chigre was opened up three furlongs in :36 in preparation for tomorrows race. WRIGHTS DERBY HOPES. At Calumet Farm Galsun and Gosum were sent a mile by trainer Frank Kearns, but Warren Wrights Derby hopefuls went faster than was anticipated over the six furlongs course. After they had gone the opening quarter in 24 seconds, Kearns began signalling jockey Irving Anderson on Galsun to slow down, but the riders of the two colts had difficulty in holding their mounts, with the result that they went the Continued on twenty-third page. Kearns has changed his mind about not running Galsun before the Blue Grass Stakes and the colt may be entered within a few days. Gosum, which disappointed on opening day, is also due for another outing before the final days feature. Major Louie A. Beard, who manages the breeding and racing interests of the several branches of the Whitney family, stated here today that Black Look and Flying Cross would be held here for their engagements in the Blue Grass Stakes, and that White Tie also is an intended starter in the ,000 added mile and one furlong event. John H. Whitneys Flying Scot, which is now at Belmont Park, is also a possible starter, depending on whether his owner can be present for the running.
