MRS. MARSDERBY HOPE Reaping Reward Attracts Attention on First Appearance at Downs. r Heads Shipment of Twenty-Seven Milky Way Horses Reaching Louisville Monday. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 20. The Milky Way Farms chief Kentucky Derby reliance, Reaping Reward, having arrived yesterday afternoon after an uneventful journey from Arlington Downs, Texas, was paraded before an eager group of spectators at Churchill Downs this morning and were impressed with his fine appearance and bearing. The brown son of Sickle, second highest money-winning two-year-old of 1936 and current second choice in the future betting on the 0,000 race to be run here on May 8, only was galloped to limber his travelling legs, but he gave every evidence of the careful training he has received under the direction of Robert McGarvey. Reaping Reward headed a shipment of twenty-seven Milky Way horses, which make up one of the most pretentious stables at Churchill Downs. This establishment also included four other nominees for the Derby, Military, which may be Reaping Rewards running mate in .the classic, Case Ace, Jaw Breaker and Murph. It also embraces nominees for the other added money features of the Downs spring calendar, the Clark Handicap, the Bashford Manor Stakes and the Kentucky Oaks. SHIPPED IN FINE STYLE. McGarvey said the Milky Way horses shipped in fine style and that he would proceed with the training of his Derby eligi-bles and others without delay. I. J. Collins Bernard F., which looms as a certain starter in the May 8 fixture, and No Sir, owned by Miss Mary Hirsch, were on the track this morning, but were only breezed, the former going a half mile and the latter three-quarters. Moving at a pace little faster than a good gallop, Bernard F. went his four furlongs in :56, while No Sir was timed in 1:21 for the six furlongs. Two of the second-flight eligibles here were seen in longer drills, H. H. Cross The Runner and Knights Plume traveling a mile each. Going handily all the way. The Runner performed his task in 1:444, while Knights Plume negotiated the distance in two-fifths of a second slower time. By the end of the week the Derby colony here will be enhanced considerably. Word was received today by track superintendent Tom Young to the effect that the Three Ds Stock Farms Heelfly would leave Texas next Saturday, while among other top rank candidates for the Derby expected Monday are Glen Riddle Farms War Admiral and Town-sen B. Martins Court Scandal. A number of eligibles now at Lexington also are expected next week.
