NOTABLES TO SEE THE DERBY Vice-President John Garner and Postmaster General James A. Farley to Be Among Spectators. WASHINGTON, D. C, April 21. The Kentucky Derby, Americas famous turf fixture, will attract Vice-President John Nance Garner and many other nationally prominent political figures from Washington on May 8, when the blue ribbon event will be run at Churchill Downs, Louisville. Vice-President Garner, a lover of sports and the outdoors, and the most distinguished resident of Texas, one of the nations leading racing states, will be the second vice-president to attend the turf feature in recent years, the late Vice-President Charles Curtis, himself a former jockey, having attended regularly. GUEST OF SENATOR DUFFY. Vice-President Garner will attend the Kentucky event as a guest of Senator Joseph Guffey, of Pennsylvania, who is making arrangements to take a large party of guests from Washington to Louisville. Senator Guffey also may have among his guests Gov. George H. Earle of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Earle is a native Kentuckian, the former Miss Huberta Potter, of Bowling Green. Postmaster General James A. Farley, an ardent racing enthusiast, will be at Churchill Downs, where last year he was reported to have backed the Derby winner, Bold Venture. His party may be one of the I largest leaving Washington. a
