if AURORA TURF NOTES f Placide Frigerio, track superintendent, has been giving the track plenty of attention and the addition of new rich brown sand over the black dirt has given the track an entirely different color. Badges for the meeting opening a week from Saturday are being mailed out now, and distribution will continue from the track. Johnny Morrissey, who has been at Lexington for the opening of the Kccneland meeting, took over his schooling duties at the Aurora track Wednesday. Most of his crew are on the grounds now. One of the largest shipments for the Fox Valley track is due to leave Arlington Downs Monday and arrive at Aurora the next day. Some ten carloads will make up the train, with many candidates for the Fox Valley Inaugural Handicap, the ,500 opening day feature, included. The Bahr starting gate will be used, as usual, during the meeting. The gate has already arrived, and the Waite Moving Picture Camera, which will be installed in the booth atop the stewards stand, is expected to be tested a week before the meeting opens. Clockcr Ed Peterson was an arrival last week and plenty of trials had him busy right from the start Activity on the track each morning is of mid-meeting proportions, with over half the stalls filled. Opening of a four-lane highway along the Fox River from Batavia to the track has assured motorists of better access to the race track.
