MINMMMAKESDMUTTODAY Respess Derby Candidate Eligible for Crystal Springs Purse at Keeneland Weather Cloudy. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 21. Main Man, the Kentucky Derby candidate of Jerome B. Respess, which has been working so well over the local course this spring, will make his three-year-old debut at Keeneland tomorrow in the featured Crystal Springs Purse, at a mile and a sixteenth for a ,200 purse. Opposing the son of Hildur and Rose Mist will be six others of like age, of which the Tranquillity Farms Teddy Green, Tall Trees Stables Kermay and Tom B. Youngs Paris Prince, also are eligible for the 0,000 added classic at Churchill Downs. Completing the overnight field are the Val-dina Farms Tedall and Solar Hawk and Hal Price Headleys Pennine, the latter being the lone filly in the line-up. The Respess colt, which will bo ridden by Robert Dottcr, who has handled him in several of his recent trials, worked the fastest mile of a Derby horse noted in this vicinity, doing the distance in 1:40 on Sunday. He worked faster than trainer B. J. Eyerman had intended, being flagged down in the late stages. Because rain threatened here today, there was a prospect that the track would not be at its best for tomorrows program, but no declarations In the feature were anticipated. Main Man will be one of the light weights of the field with 103 pounds, Teddy Green and Solar Hawk being called upon to carry 113 pounds each. Tedall will have 110 up, Pennine 105, Paris Prince 103 and Kermay 102, including the apprentice allowance. There is a strong possibility that other Kentucky Derby eligibles, including the Calumet Farm pair of Galsun and Gosum, will go postward Friday in the Fort Springs Purse, also over the mile and one-sixteenth route.
