HUSKIE BOY STILL UNBEATEN Captures Juvenile Stakes at Arlington Downs for Third Straight. TJberty Scout Props at Start and Ruins Chances, Finishing In Show Position, With Hi Cliff Second. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 21. Keeping his record unblemished and scoring the most important of his three victories, Huskie Boy carried W. C. Stroubes colors to an easy triumph in the fourth running of the Juvenile Stakes at Arlington this afternoon. Although probably robbed of somo of its thrill when Three Ds Stock Farms Liberty Scout propped slightly at the start, the four and one-half furlongs dash gave the fashionably-bred youngster, which cost hi3 owner ,800 at the Saratoga auction, an opportunity of displaying his speed over the longer distance for the first time. Forest City Stables Hi Cliff was second, and Liberty Scout third. Due to the change in track conditions only six of the erjht named overnight were under colors for the ,C0O added prize that was worth ,785 to owner Stroube. He was handled by Lawrence McDcrmott, who was astride him vhen he set the present record of :47 for a half mile, and his maiden triumph. While Liberty Scout tossed away his chances at the start, Huskie Boy was the first under way and, although Joe Schenck was well admired. Hi Cliff soon displaced the latter. Rapidly reaching his stride, Liberty Scout went into third place nearing the final quarter but the leaders were too much for him and he was forced to be satisfied with holding the others safe. EY SAFE MARGIN. After reaching the stretch Huskie Boy increased his advantage and he came to the end two and a half lengths before Hi Cliff, which led Liberty Scout by two lengths for second. The latter was two and a half lengths before Joe Schenck, with Hands Down and Born Black, which completed the field, well beaten. Born Black bore out entering the stretch. Huskie Boy ran the distance in :56, or within :02 of the track mark. Heavy showers, which fell shortly after the close of yesterdays program, left the track in a heavy condition and caused numerous withdrawals. The fourth race, for which a small field of six was named, went by the boards and the substitute was used. However, spring weather was on tap and the largest weekday crowd of the meeting was present. With the track in such condition surprises were in order, but thrilling finishes and a disqualification kept the fans on edge. Tornadic was a surprise winner of the first race. Miss Webb was second and Khamseen third. Away slowest of all and outrun while Khamseen and Miss Webb dominated the pace for a half mile, the winner drove to the front in the final sixteenth to reach the finish three lengths before Miss Webb, which led Khamseen by the same margin for second. But for swerving to the outside approaching the final furlong, Khamseen probably would have been a stronger factor. Alwintour quit badly after a half mile. TRIPLE PLAY DISQUALIFIED. A disqualification occurred with the three-quarters second race when Triple Play, which was an easy winner, was placed last and George Collins Thistle Grace, which finished second and chief sufferer when Triple Play swerved to the outside in the drive, was declared winner. Texline, which was beat by a nose by Thistle Grace, was placed second, and Augold, which finished fourth, was given the third award. Under V. L. Johnson, Triple Play raced Thistle Grace into defeat during the run to the stretch. However, after attaining a clear advantage, he bore over on Thistle Grace and thus benefited came to the finish with two lengths to spare. After jumping into the air at the start, Texline, the favorite, rapidly imnroved his position on the outside and but for being slightly impeded when Thistle Grace bore over on him probably would have been closer up at the end. Animate was an easy winner of the third race, for which Scythe, which finished fourth, was a well-backed choice. Barrido was second and Free Spirit third. Capably ridden by Sammy Roberts and saved when Barrido and Scythe outran her, Animate moved up fast on the outside and taking command in the final sixteenth reached the finish two lengths before Barrido, which bore over on Free Spirit approaching the final furlong. Scythe, which was knocked back when Free Spirit was forced over on him, showed nothing thereafter. UP IN FINAL STRIDE. In the carded substitute, which replaced the original fourth race, Edward OConneli saddled another winner when Carus Clarus got up in the final stride to beat Jolyon by a nose. Rockrim was third, some five lengths back of Jolyon and a head before Van Hastings. Pargo, the favorite, led only Texas Pal and Great Chance to the finish after being far back throughout Unlike Jolyon, which was in striking distance while Van Hastings and Royal Treasure dominated the pace, Carus Clarus came from far back to reach second position in the stretch, rapidly shortening Jolyons advantage and Cornay got the winner up at the end.
