DAUBER MISSING FROM CHESAPEAKE FIELD TODAY Wheatley Stables Stormscud Probable Choice in 5,000 Stake H. P. Headleys Bourbon King Kentuckys Chief Reliance in Rich Havre de Grace Special Mrs. Emil Denemarks Blind Eagle Among Eligibles HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., April 22. The Chesapeake, first important three-year-old stake to be offered in the East this season, is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the Havre de Grace course of the Harford Agri- , cultural and Breeders Association. The fixture, which will have its nineteenth running, carries an added value of 5,000 and has attracted eight of the best of the year to compete over the one mile and one-sixteenth. This years running will be the richest renewal of the special. Much interest has been detracted from the Chesapeake by the absence of Fox-catcher Farms Dauber. Generaly conceded favoritism in the field, the son of Pennant and Ship of War was not entered when it appeared that 5 the track would be something less than fast, although he has shown a fondness for off-tracks. He has been returned to the farm at Wilmington and will not likely be seen under silks until his engagement in the Kentucky Derby. With Dauber out of the way it is likely that favoritism will fall to Wheatley Stables Stormscud. Winner over a fair field on opening day at Jamaica, he should retain that good form to score again. THANKSGIVINGS CHANCE. Thanksgiving, which races for Mrs. Parker Corning, had some excuse when beaten by Stormscud in their recent engagement in that he was away somewhat slowly. He gets his chance to make amends here. B. F. Whitaker has named his pair Mythical King and Crepe. The former, very fit now, was able to show his heels to older horses in his latest race over the track. Crepe has an excellent record, made in Florida, to recommend him, although he appeared to dislike the track in his latest venture. Hal Price Headleys Bourbon King will carry the hopes of Kentucky. Winner of his latest race at Keeneland, he shipped to Havre de Grace in excellent shape for his test. He also has a creditable second to Lawrin in the Flamingo Stakes at Hialeah Park as evidence of his prowess. CHICAGO HORSE. Blind Eagle, which will carry the silks and hopes of Chicagos Mrs. Emil Denemark, was a good second to Dauber over this track as a recommendation. His present good condition is obvious. A. C. Comptons Sun Egret, third in the Santa Anita Derby and winner of two races at Bowie since then, lost some of his support when Jie was a beaten favorite in the Harford Handicap. John J. Farrell, Jr.s Brown Moth completes the field. This fellow has trained very well but appears to be overmatched. Apart from this, the absence of Dauber makes the field a very evenly-balanced one. Heading the supporting card is the Camden Industrial Traffic Club Purse, at a mile and seventy yards. This is for four-year-olds and upward, and h: attracted seven good distance performers.
