LEIGHTONWOOD, close to the pace from the start, wrested the leadership from AUXILIARY after entering the stretch and, racing strongly to the finish, won handily. SCOTS GUARD came very fast after leaving the back stretch and, saving ground in the run home, was gaining on the winner. AUXILIARY tired after making the pace. GAMELON dropped back after breaking well and, under ordinary riding, did JxJ2.m?!,a contender until 100 ate. then finished well. WILDRUN showed a good turn of early speed. LITTLE ARGO raced to the front early and, showing good speed, shook off TORQUIL when ready in the stretch and won going away. TORQUIL was closest to the winner all the way and did his best, but was not good enough. McCARTHY raced rather wide while making his move and never seriously threatened the first two. GLITTERING, closer up than usual in the first quarter, dropped back, but came again in the stretch and, after finishing well, worked out an extra quarter mile. NORLANDA was in rather close quarters on the inside in the back stretch, but showed a weak effort. POMPETE was jostled soon after the start and, dropping back, was never a serious contender. O. came fast after leaving the back stretch to catch LISA BELLE in the stretch and won narrowly under urging. LISA BELLE moved up steadily in the back stretch to catch GUARANTY then raced fairly well to the finish, but could not resist the winner. GUARANTY showed good speed in pace-making, but tired in the stretch. IDLE ALONG dropped back when in close quarters rounding the far turn, then came again in the stretch. EYE JAY had early speed and met with interference when tiring in the stretch. ROCHESTER BOYS saddle slipped an eighth from home and unseated his rider. MONSWEEP lacked early speed and was .outrun to the far turn, then raced wide while making his move and could not get up. TRIPLANE was in rather close quarters on the inside in the stretch and ran a good race to finish well. FLORA UPSET showed good speed in pace-making and raced well to the last eighth, then tired.
