SWEET TONE, well ridden and reserved early, improved his position rapidly after rounding the far turn, wore GAY JAY down entering the stretch and, drawing away steadily, won with much to spare. MADAME J., steadied along for five-eighths, moved up through the field, failed to menace the winner but finished strongly. WEBBING stumbled slightly at the break, was outrun for a half mile, responded well thereafter and closed with a rush. WASSAIL tired. MISS GOHI had no mishaps. GAY JAY, used up in rcaihiiii; the lead, quit badly when challenged. DOUBLE FINESSE was done after a half mile. Scratched— 57762 Queens Best, 112; 57822 Lady Scout, 107. GOODANDSLICK, in close quarters at the far turn, saved ground thereafter and held on well. DON PANCHO tired after reaching contention. BUSY DAUGHTER raced wide. DOWER had a rough trip. EXHORT disposed of JAY BEE JAY after a. quarter, drew clear rapidly, was put to strong pressure when tiring in the last stages and failed to last. DOROTHY HICKS, a strong factor from the start, lost ground entering the stretch, came again when straight and held on well. FRENCH JACK improved his position while racing wide and tired. Start good and slow for all but Glowset. Won driving; second and third the same. GLOWSET, unprepared when the start came and far back for a quarter, improved her position rapidly thereafter, was steered to the inside for the drive, forged to the front inside the final sixteenth and won drawing away. COUNT MAURICE, outrun for a half mile, responded to strong urging in the drive and closed determinedly. PRETTY BUSY, used up in the pace, lost ground at the stretch turn, came fast when straight and held on tenaciously. DAVISHILL sprinted into a commanding leading during the opening quarter, was put to strong urging when challenged, but tired near the end. HARPEN BELLE tired after improving her position. GEN.
