• 1 BELMONT PARK TURF NOTES | . e d Condition books for the Aqueduct meeting will be distributed among horsemen on Monday, according to Francis Dunne. Ira Gregory left for Agawam Park to take over his duties as starter of that meeting, which opens on Saturday. John P. McTaggart, a son of Johnny Mc-Taggart, who rode for many years, applied for his license Wednesday. The latest of the McTaggart clan is under contract to Mose Lowenstein. At private terms, Jack McPherson, acting for the Falaise Stable, sold the mare Mad Duchess to T. Williams. Preeminent was shipped to Lincoln Fields to start in a stake engagement there, while Flying Lee and Drift Along were shipped to Louisville to start in the Oaks. Trainer Duval Headley supervised the shipment. Track superintendent C. V. Boyle estimated that between 5,000 and 0,000 was spent to accommodate the expected crowd for the canceled Decoration Day match race. A half-mile of four-foot fence along the inner rail, a six-foot wire mesh fence, ten ticket booths, fifteen new turnstiles, boxes and stands for the various concessions, and refurnishing the old clubhouse, ate up most of the expenditures. Trainer Duval Headley said today that it was extremely doubtful if Menow would face the starter in the Belmont Stakes.
