« 1 ASCOT PARK TURF NOTES • ® The Memorial Day feature at Ascot will be the Mayflower Hotel Handicap. Its a mile and a sixteenth run for a purse of 00 by three-year-olds and over. The Inaugural Handicap, the headliner of the opening day card, May 28, is also for three-year-olds and over but is a dash of six and a half with a 00 reward. C. O. Grieves af Lafayette, Ind., has an apprentice jockey named John Conroy. Con-roy, who is from Chicago, scored a first victory astride Grandeem at Beulah Park. Both horse and rider will be headed for Ascot. Grieves also will ship Grand Sweep and Noels Blaze to the same track. Among the jockeys soon to perform at Ascot are Grover C. Fisher, Morris Butcher, J. R. Hill, Elmer Fator, Joe Sylvester, Homer Derden, Stewart Vail, Frank Tice, Jack and Ted Atkinson, George Quackenbush and Jimmy Kinnard.
