JESTING VICTOR IN GOLD CUP Dawes Representative Leads for the Entire Distance — Movieman Garners Second Honors. TORONTO, Ont., May 25.— Jesting, eight-year-old daughter of Snob II. and Juven-escence, racing in the cardinal silks of Ken- neth T. Dawes and winner of the opening day Trial Plate Handicap, came back with a sparkling effort in the twenty-ninth running of the King Edward Gold Cup Handicap to take major honors. Ridden by A. Pascuma, Jesting led her field from the start to finish and maintained a length ad-, vantage before the Erindale Stables imp. Movieman at the end of the mile and one-sixteenth. Dr. C. N. Mooneys Teddy Haslam raced to third place a neck off and two and one-half lengths before the Parkwood Sta- bles Diabroom, the remaining contestant. Jesting covered the distance in 1:46%. Another good gathering witnessed the fourth days program of the Ontario Jockey Club meeting. The track was in a fast condition with a cold wind sweeping the course from the east. MOVIEMAN FORCED BACK. Starter Rowe sent the field away after a half minute delay. Jesting was away in the lead from the gate, followed by Movieman, Diabroom. and Teddy Haslam was last. In the run around the first turn Jesting outran the Erindale Stable colt and came over to the rail and Lindberg, astride Movie- man, was forced to ease back. As they sped to the back stretch, Jesting opened up day-! light and as the half mile ground was reached he held a two lengths advantage with Movieman second on the inside a head in advance of Teddy Haslam. Rounding the turn Teddy Haslam was unable to keep up with Movieman and was eased back. As they came to the last furlong Pascuma was forced to go to a drive and Movieman moved to within a length of the leader. Jesting re-• sponded gamely and held her margin to the end. Movieman closed well and stalled off the closing rush of Teddy Haslam. I i 1 i , 1 ] ; , i I ] I i | I
