PENRILL forced the early running, raced to the lead under restraint after going a half mile, was steadied along, closed gamely under stout handling and outfinished BATTING EYE. The latter, shuffled back after going a half mile, came to the outside through the stretch and bore in leaving the eighth post, then closed gamely. STANDOUT raced forwardly placed throughout and moved up threateningly midway of the stretch, then hung. GLISTENING worked way forward steadily, was blocked in the stretch and had to be taken up. SKIPSEA made no progress. ROYAL TREAD closed gamely from a slow beginning. BAGGATAWAY tired after displaying good speed. BATON DAMOUR quit in the final three-eighths. DIABROOM, slow to settle in best stride, worked way up steadily and closed gamely to the end. CONTRIBUTOR closed with a rush through the final half mile. GOWERLACE worked way up steadilv on the inside and closed gamely to the end. ROCK BOUND faltered through the final eighth. BLUE ICE made up ground. LITTLE HETTY had speed for three-quarters. YORK MILLER followed back of the pace under steady restraint for the first two miles, worked way up, saved ground and, fencing well, wore down GREATOREX and drew clear when the latter fell. BIG MARCH worked way up steadily, closed gamely, but was unable to threaten the leader. WILFRID G. raced forwardly placed to the eighth fence, bobbled and dropped back, then came again through the final half mile. TAIL WIND was never prominent. BLACKCOCK forced the pace to the fifteenth fence, made a poor landing and droppd back. GREATOREX set the pace for two miles and one half, gave way to the winner going to the final fence, fell at the final obstacle and broke his neck. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. BOBS BOYS, away slowly, was sent up on the inside in the back stretch, moved up threateningly midway of the stretch run and hung in the drive. BOMBER, shuffled back on the first turn, made up ground thereafter. SHOELESS JOE sprinted to the lead at once, bore out all through the back stretch, dropped back and could never threaten thereafter. SKYROS, steadied back of the pace the first three-quarters, came gamely in the drive and outfinished TABMARK. The latter, well placed throughout, had no mishaps. CABIN GAL, carried wide on the first turn, made up ground. SUFFERN broke in a tangle, was forced to take up going to the first turn when blocked, moved up threateningly through the back stretch, then tired from early efforts.
