JIMMY WILSON RESIGNS PHILADELPHIA, Pa., Oct. 1. Jimmy Wilson resigned today as manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, effective immediately. Wilson had announced in Boston earlier in the week that he would resign after reports circulated that James Thompson "Doc" Protho had been signed Fo pilot the Phillies 1 next season.
