REDLIN, quick at the break, moved into a long lead in the first three-eighths, met stout efforts from ROBESPIERRE rounding the turn, then came out swiftly after saving ground on the -stretch turn. The latter was in the thick of contention from the start and challenged stoutly on the turn, but fell back when taken wide into the stretch. HARDY JIM worked way up on the outside and closed with good courage. DUST TO DUST, sluggish in the early racing, improved position stoutly in the last five-sixteenths and finished on the inside. ROYAL BIT saved ground and closed gamely. MORSTEP raced well placed, but was not good enough. BLUE TINTS was placed on the outside of the stalls for the start and raced wide. GUYENCOURT was outrun. SUZANNE PECK did not fancy the footing. The others were held safe. RISSA broke in the first flight, but dropped back early, settled in stride to improve position on the outside, entered contention nearing the stretch, then wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. DIXIELAND, forced to race on the outside, challenged on the stretch turn and came gamely. DOG FLOWER was ridden hard while setting the pace and saved ground, but tired under punishment in the closing eighth. SUNNYSHORE, starting very slowly, weaved way between horses rounding the turn, then closed with a bold rush. NANSEMOND showed a good effort. JOANNY lacked early speed and was never a threat. THE BOXER finished full of run. HAPPY KNOT quit badly. CORNWALLIS had a rough trip. PATSEY BEGONE fell back suddenly after breaking fast. SALLY QUICK quit. V LIGHT CHATTER, away in the first flight, returned to the lead after being momentarily displaced on the turn out of the back stretch, opened up a clear lead by saving ground, but tired suddenly nearing the end and had to be vigorously urged. THE RUNNER was rushed rapidly after being straightened into the back stretch, gained a short lead and continued gamely after being overhauled. HIGH TENSION, settling in stride very slowly, was taken to the outside to improve position and closed in determined fashion after making a wide turn into the stretch. AMHURST was stoutly ridden throughout and had no excuses. GREEN MELON closed a good gap. INACTIVE raced well. GALLOPING broke from outside of the stalls. DONA DULCIN broke poorly, WESTBROOKE was taken extremely wide all the way. FLYING FEET quit. CONTRITE was also away poorly. KERMAY outran his field to the first turn, was steadied nicely after going into a lone; lead, was lightly punished after reaching the stretch and had enough in reserve to withstand CHALPHONE. The latter, steadied for the first three-quarters, improved position on the outside and closed with excellent courage when placed to punishment. INVERMARK was restrained back of the pacemaker early, then rallied when shaken up, but was not good enough. WHICHAWAY, slow to begin as usual, failed to menace when bettering his position. ROUGH TIME displayed good speed to move into the lead in the first eighth, stumbled slightly nearing the stretch, recovered quickly and held on tenaciously to outstay SUN EGRET. The latter, breaking slower than usual, reached a forward position on tho turn out of the back stretch, bettered his position on the outside and finished stoutly, although his rider could not do his mount justice when his foot came out of the stirrup iron. LAVENGRO, a stout factor from the start, stole through on the inside entering the .stretch to engage the winner, but faltered right at the end while under punishment. MOWER was ridden hard while racing prominently and held on well. GREY GOLD finished stronely after being slow to settle in stride. WHITE COCKADE saved ground and had no excuses. ANEROID was forced wide throughout. PREEMINENT broke slowly and was always outrun. INFIDOX was outrun. CLINGENDAAL tired. CREOLE MAID met with some interference nearing the turn. The latter handled his weight nicely to follow in close attendance of the winner, challenged strongly nearing the stretch, then drew on even terms with the winner but hung right at the end. CHALLEPHEN, lacking early speed, settled into stride entering the last half rnde and closed stoutly on the outside. GERALD was a keen factor for the first seven-e.ghths, then tired. ARMY AND NAVY, a, slow beginner, worked his way up stoutly in the last half mile and finished with a bold rush on the outside. HEAD HUNTER fell back at the turn out of the back stretch, responded when punished and fought it out gamely in the final drive. UVALDE was handled strongly to hold a forward posiiton and held on gamely. SOME BOY circled his field and closed a good gap. JELLY ROLL was never a threat. BRAVING DANGER raced well placed, -fcut was unable to stay. SHOT UP was taken wide all the way. HOWARD raced in dull fashion.
