PATROL SCOUT, hustled into command on the inside, increased his advtange while racing under a light hold rounding the turn, came out slightly in the stretch where he continued well and held his advantage to win with something in reserve. VEYO, a sharp contender from the start, saved ground on the stretch turn and stood a drive gamely, but could not seriously menace the winner. ROSCOE, on the outside early, began to move up fast when getting through on the inside soon after reaching the stretch and continued strongly to the end. PAPALINDA tired in the drive. I DETERMINED, very fractious at the post where he eventually was placed outside the gate for the start, began fast and, racing with the leaders under a snug hold to the final quarter, took a short advantage under srood handling approaching the final eighth and, after shaking off WITAN, withstood the bid of BEAVER COUNTY. The latter, unable to keep up early and brought out after reaching the stretch, responded with much energy after five-eighths and just missed getting up after having closed a gap. WITAN moved up between horses rounding the turn, held the lead briefly just inside the final quarter and raced gamely to the last fifty yards, where he tired. MARLIE MAY, prominent from the start, raced wide. LITTLE CLEORA did not keep up in the stretch. COMPANY gave way suddenly after showing speed to the stretch. CORKER did not extend himself. DOUG "BRASHEAR, under a strong hold for about three-quarters and always clear, moved up on the outside entering the stretch, then continued with determination under strong pressure, getting up in the closing strides. OPOCA followed the early pacemaker under steady restraint, overtook WILD WEST slowly when under a hard drive in the final quarter and held on courageously to the end. WILD WEST, close up from the start and also in hand for almost three-quarters; slipped through on the inside on the stretch turn and stood a drive gamely, but was not good enough. PAULSON began to improve his position after five-eighths, continued to gain slowly through the final quarter, but could not get to the leaders. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. DISTRACTIBLE, steadied along between horses for a half mile, moved up on the outside of DARK SUN leaving the back, stretch, took command under light urging in the stretch, then loafed and had to be strongly persevered with in the last sixteenth. DARK SUN, on the inside throughout, was well in hand for three-quarters and hung on stubbornly in the drive, but was lucky to finish so close up. GOLD MESH, away slowly, attempted to prop immediately after the start, was racing strongly when blocked in the stretch, went to the inside in the last eighth and finished fast. POKEAWAY, placed outside the stalls for the start, was rated to the final half mile and did not rally, yet held on fairly well. KEENE JACK failed to stay under pressure and swerved in the stretch. The latter, also saved in the early stages and raced wide, rallied to strong pressure in the final quarter and held on with fine courage, but could not get up. DORA MAY displayed keen speed from the start, saved ground on the turn, swerved out slightly after reaching the stretch and tired in the last sixteenth. MAD MONEY was on the inside throughout and gave way steadily in the last three-sixteenths. CHEROVAN, taken back early, closed well on the inside. SHINING HEELS, fractious at the post, but away well, was under vigorous riding from the start, entered the stretch on the outside and tired in the last three-sixteenths. The latter, well up from the start was under strong urging after reaching the last five-sixteenths and held on gamely. UNEASY improved her position fast on the second turn, raced wide in the stretch and also hung on with determination. VISIGOTH, taken back several times in the first five-eighths, secured much room on the inside while making up ground thereafter. CARAVEL raced very wide throughout. HER REIGH gave way suddenly on the stretch turn and was not dangerous thereafter. SUMATRA III. bore out much of the race. CARDINALIS quit badly after five-eighths. MACK had good speed for a mile and held on fairly welt under pressure. SCOUT AZURE, a sharp factor from the beginning, moved up boldly approaching the last eighth and then tired.
