ir DISQUALIFY TIBERIUS j j Skyflier Awarded First Money After j Leader Is Set Back. j t ! Heather Times Jockey Claims Foul, 1 r 1 But Mount Gets Only Second Money Eva R. Wins. I PAWTUCKET, R. I., Nov. 10 Ronnie Nash, leading rider of the Narragansett -meeting, rode Tiberius to first place in the Mattapoisett Handicap, which featured todays sport here, but was disqualified after JMaschek, on the heavily backed Heather .Time, claimed a foul. Tiberius cut over sharply in front of Heather Time and Sky-flier in the stretch. Although Maschek claimed the foul, his mount was not placed first through the disqualification. Alvin Untermyers Skyflier got up in the last stride to beat A. E. Silvers Heather Time by a nose and was awarded ;the race through the disqualification of Ti-berius. Johnny Barba was aboard Skyflier. It was an oddly run race, with Skyflier going out to make the pace, followed by Lit-tle Rhody. Heather Time and Tiberius were jhead and head behind them. Nash evidently jhad instructions to move with Tiberius when Heather Time moved. He followed the instructions perfectly, Heather Time and Ti--jberius racing by Skyflier and Little Rhody at the far turn, still running heads apart. t FORGES TO FRONT. I They raced neck and neck to the sixteenth post, where Tiberius forged to the lead and "began to draw off. Just past the sixteenth post Skyflier came again on the outside to challenge. Tiberius appeared to hit a bad spot in the track and swerved over to the . jnside, but was rapidly straightened out and went on to finish first by a length and a half. Skyflier kept coming and nipped Heather Time right at the wire. " Maschek immediately went up to the stand, then Nash was called up and Tiberius number was taken down. It was the first time Nash has been disqualified here. The trouble did not appear to be his fault. T. Powells Eva R., ridden by Ronnie Nash, closed fast to win the six furlongs opening event by a length and a half over . J. E. Simmons Happy Host. Mrs. M. R. Lewis Jessie V. L. was a distant third, and High Fire was just a nose in back of her. The time was 1:15 over the heavy course. Elwawa and Happy Host fought a head and - head pace battle to the stretch, where Elwawa quit. Around the turn, Nash began to move from fourth place with the winner. . Eva R. collared Happy Host in the run to the sixteenth pole and drew off in the final stages. j IMPROVED FORM. - Lunsford, a horse which was beaten eight- een lengths in mud last out, negotiated the heavy going well enough today to win the I second by two and a half lengths over Phara-t time. Hustle Along was third, half a length off the runner-up and a nose in advance of i Continued on fifteenth page. r . , - DISQUALIFYJIBERIUS Continued from first page. Grand Jester. Ray Hightshoe rode the winner1, which finished out in 1:15. Lunsford took the van soon after the start and was never headed. Hasty Hnna chased him down the back stretch, but Pharatime moved second in the run to the far turn. The latter could make no impression on the winners lead in the stretch, however. Ken McCombs drove Mad De Mie to vie- tory in the third race on the program, kicking his mount home a neck in advance of Cantamore. The leading pair battled it out head and head from start to finish, with first one, then the other showing in front. There was little to choose between them until the final twenty yards, where McCombs outfinished Bcrger to inch away. Bob Junior finished third, some three lengths off the battling leaders, and Wesgot was fourth. High Place, the favorite, ran a game race to win the fourth event, leading all the way and drawing off at the finish to beat Major B. by four lengths. Jean C. was third, another length and a half back. Hope Diamond closed a wide gap to take fourth place. Porcellus carried the colors of Mrs. S. Orr to victory in the six furlongs sixth race, which provided for better than average sprinters. The Hard Tack mare reveled in the going and after assuming the lead in the stretch continued gamely to hold . Mansco, the favorite, safe by half a length. Affirmation was a length and a half off the runner-up.
