BRILLIANT ROCK gained a forward position when straightening out in the back stretch, was steadied along until nearing the stretch, moved up stoutly to take command and was clear at the end. TIEMPO was forwardly placed all the way and fought it out gamely after losing the lead. WHIPPER CRACKER trailed his field early as usual, raced into contention with a rush after rounding the far turn and, looming up willingly in the stretch, was unable to improve his position during the last eighth under punishment. FLAG SONG closed a big gap and was going willingly at the end. BRIGHT MELODY was unable to keep up early, but was going gamely at the end. GREAT BLAZE was on the outside throughout.
