GOVERNOR-ELECT PROMISES PARDON FOR TOM MOONEY LOS ANGELES, Calif., Nov. 10. Tom Mooney, Preparedness Day bomber, serving a life sentence in San Quentin prison, and the storm center of many years of fighting for freedom, will be pardoned after a hearing, Culbert Olson, Democratic governor-elect, indicated in a formal statement today. Olson said one of his first acts would be to hold a hearing on Mooneys pardon applica-I tion "to show cause why I, as governor should not pardon him. My convictions on the Mooney case were stated by me and printed in the Senate Journal on March 16, 1937. I then stated that I had studied the Mooney case and was not only convinced that he was convicted on perjured testimony and false evidence, but that I did not believe Mooney guilty of this outrageous and revolting crime, that if he was guilty he should have been hanged. Therefore it must be clear to anyone that I will approach the consideration of Mooneys application for pardon with these convictions giving an opportunity to all and any entitled to a hearing to show cause to me why I as governor should not pardon him."
