EUROPEAN COLD SNAP LONDON, Dec. 19. All Europe was icebound today in the greatest cold snsp to chill the old world in many years. Residents of every country shivered. Gales lashed the English Channel and North Sea and small boats, their decks covered with ice, were not able to make port. Seas frozen along the shore and rivers and lakes were covered with ice. Trains were delayed. Horse racing was called off. Pipes burst in thousands of homes.
