TSANTA ANITA " TURF NOTES " o and C. E. McLean came in with eight head for the stable of Mrs. W. C. Gaffers and J. H. Sattler. He bedded down in barn No. 14 with Townsman, the stables nomination for the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap, and Marynell, Bunny Martin, Auxiliary, Wedding Call, Sadie X. and Lisa Belle. Another arrival was Harry Fields with two horses, McCarthy, winner of the Louisiana Derby, and Clean Up. Raymond "Sonny" Workman, for many years one of the leading stake riders of the nation, came in Sunday. Workman will do the riding for the J. H. Whitney string, of which Bill Norton is the trainer. That also means that the Greentree and Manhasset Stables will have first call on this rider since the horses of Mrs. Payne Whitney and Mrs. Payson are in Nortons care. Workman is most vividly remembered as the boy who booted the immortal Equipoise to most of his major victories, including the worlds mile record at Arlington Park. Arran Frost, better known as "Frosty" agent for the Tony Pelleteri stable, was also an arrival at Santa Anita. This is the barn which houses the undefeated Isaroma one of the high weights for the Santa Anita Handicap. "Frosty" stated that Pelleteri will arrive on the grounds in a few days.
