TWO CONSISTENT HORSES NEW ORLEANS, La., Dec. 19. The modest stable of Frank H. Carpenter, which had been on the wane for a long while, seems to have gained a new lease on life and is among the most succesful being campaigned at the Fair Grounds this season. Only consisting of two horses, namely Cross Ruff and Overplay, the Carpenter silks have been borne to victory three times, second four times and third once in nine outings. Cross Ruff is credited with two victories and two place monies, while Overplay has got down in front once, was second twice, third once and unplaced in his only other start. Carpenter, who has been confined to his home in Lancaster, Ohio, for the major portion of the past two years with a leg injury, has turned the horses over to Bill Stock to train, and the success is reflected in the Fair Grounds performances of the duo.
