1 FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES f i O. L. Foster reported the death of the four-year-old brown gelding Medius Dies, which contracted car fever in shipment from Narragansett Park and has been ailing for the past two weeks. Homer H. Fausett, who campaigned Leading Article at the Fair Grounds two seasons ago, arrived from his east Texas home for a visit of a few days. Fausett has two horses turned out which will be taken up Febru ary 1 and prepared for racing at Oaklawn Park. Apprentice G. C. Fisher donned silks for the first time this season at the Fair Grounds Monday afternoon. Application was made by Robert Bolton for a trainers license, and the former jockey will direct the training of Otterrop for Miss D. H. Corey in the future. Knave, Norman Sloat, Cynical, Boston Sound, Prosy, Moisson, Jessie O., Hood Cover, Creole Beauty and Black Scout are included on starter Johnny Morrisseys schooling list. An unnamed yearling in the stable of Mrs. E. J. Chambers died at the Fair Grounds Sunday morning as a result of car fever contracted en route from Maryland to the Crescent City. James Emery, Chicago turfman, was an arrival from the Windy City and will remain in New Orleans for the balance of the winter. The Emery horses are in charge of trainer Dave Vititoe. Steward T. C. Bradley returned from Charles Town, W. Va., where, he represented the West Virginia Racing Commission, and resumed his duties as one of the Louisiana Jockey Club stewards, along with John T. Ireland and Richard A. Leigh, Sr. Dan OLeary departed for Miami, Fla., where he will remain throughout the Tropical Park and Hialeah Park meetings this winter.
