Tanforans November 15 to December 17! twenty-five-day meeting wound up with a thrilling renewal of the San Francisco Handicap, in which A. A. Baronis Specify defeated the South American, Ligaroti, by a nose. The San Francisco Handicap was the main event of a meeting during which ,86,-r 635 was split by winning horsemen, the daily prizes averaging ,745.40. With Specify winning the richest staked A. A. Baroni headed the winning owners list with ,400 and the son of Jamestown topped the equine campaigners with the same amount. Johnny Adams, last years champion rider, had much the best of the argument with this years prospective leader, Johnny Longden; Adams riding thirty-two winners, while Longden had nineteen, tieing with R. Neves for third place behind Warren Van Tassel, who was second with twenty-one winners. J. Taylor, saddling nine winners, had a safe margin over Earl Beezley, R. E. Cooper, T. D. Grimes, E. Jelly, W.
