" 1 1 i i I J c i c g t to q b I r 5 s E C D p I FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES I , 1 Apprentice Albert Lawrence, a Canadian youngster under contract to Gordon Mc-Macken, accepted his first mount of the Fair Grounds meeting Friday afternoon when he was astride Secured. D. W. Carroll, who has Sweet Adeline and Chief Nadi in training at the Fair Grounds, plans to take up Leading Article in the early spring, to be prepped for a summer campaign. The speedy sprinter is at present turned out in Temple, Texas, on the farm of his owner, Dr. B. P. Woodson. According to George Swain, attache of the racing secretarys office at the Louisiana Jockey Club, there are more than 500 horses on the "preferred list." Close to 200 horses were thrown put" of races recently on a single days program. Ernie Myatt, former owner and trainer, who is without racing material at present, has taken over the book of apprentice JKarl Greever and will make the boys engagements for the remainder of the season. Frank Seremba, owner of the Fairflax Stable, one of the largest establishments on the grounds, is contemplating sending a division Oriental Park for campaigning. However, he has not. selected those intended for the Cuban campaign. F. D. McElroy, trainer of the horses owned by N. L. Naylor, departed for his home in Houston, Texas to spend Christmas and will return next week to resume his duties at the Fair Grounds. H. C. Hoffman, Chicago owner who has several horses here in .charge of Harry Hockenbury, is expected to arrive in New Orleans shortly after Christmas for a visit before proceeding p MHiami in com pany with W. H. Goelitz, Illinois breeder.
