REVOLUTIONARY WING DESIGN ADDS TO PLANES EFFICIENCY PASADENA, Calif., April 24. Aviation was revealed today to be on the verge of a revolutionary improvement if the "perfect wing" designed by Davis R. Davis is successful in practice as laboratory tests by impartial scientists indicate. Through use of an airfol so aerodnyamically "clean" it increases an airplanes efficiency 20 per cent, the new wing permits regular speeds of almost 500 miles an hour. Utilization of the "perfect wing," the veteran aeronautical designer said, would allow flying boats to take off on an even keel instead of with hulls up-tilted from the surface of the water. Within ten days an amphibian plane with a wing embodying the Davis theory will be launched and, engineers believe, will amaze the aeronautical world with its high speed, load-carrying and range qualities.
