CURRANTS gained the lead after the opening three-sixteenths, drew clear before reaching the far turn, increased his lead steadily, but was under punishment through the closing stages to hold IDLE SUN safe. IDLE SUN was rated along back of the pace, saved ground entering the stretch and finished With good energy. WHOOPER, unable to keep pace through the run down the back stretch, moved up gradually on the outside under pressure, but was unable to close any ground through the stretch. HIGH TREASON, slower than usual during the early running, moved up gamely midway of the turn, but was unable to close any ground during the closing drive. EVA R., shuffled back in the opening eighth, was never a factor. BLOOMER GIRL wasjgj knocked back ncaring the far turn and was unable to recover. IRENES BOB moved up fast during the opening eighth, met determined opposition from LITTLE MIKE and, under urging, held LADDIE STONE safe. LADDIE STONE was prominent all the way and, responding willingly to a hard dive, continued determinedly and, while unable to reach the winner, outlasted LITTLE MIKE. The latter, hard ridden to get to the front early, made a bold attempt to go along with the winner and only tired during the closing strides. OUR DAVID was" unable to better his position under punishment. MISS HOLLYWOOD was outrun for the first half mile, then came with good courage during the stretch run. MINEY MYERSON was never a threat. AIR ACTRESS moved up stoutly when leaving the back stretch, but was unable to close any ground through the stretch. SUN PATTY, taken under steadying restraint until reaching the stretch, closed with good speed. TOP TIER, away poorly, was rushed up fast in the opening five-sixteenths, but was unable to endanger the leaders, SUN KIT displayed brief early speed. THREE O THREE was never a threat. NEBRASKA CITY was not hurried during the early running, moved up gradually on the outside after the opening three-eighths and closed with arush on the outside to be along in the closing stride. STORY TIME displayed speed from the start, withstood a determined stretch bid from JESSIE V. L. and, while holding the latter safe, just failed to last long enough. JESSIE V. L., prominent all the way, saved all possible ground and fought it out with good energy. COUNT COTTON closed with good courage in the stretch. FUMBLE made determined bids during the first half mile, faltering during the closing drive. LINAS SON was outrun. SPORT HEEL quit. LIGHT CRUISER dwelt slightly after taking the opening strides and finished stoutly through the stretch. SCOTCH QUEEN raced well for the first half mile and quit badly thereafter. WAY YONDER raced well placed until the closing eighth, faltering jindor pressure. RACEAWAY displayed good speed in pacemaking, then faltered during the last sixteenth. GENERAL HOWES, away slowly,, was rushed up fast in the run through the back stretch, only to tir steadily during the last five-sixteenths. LOVICK, reserved for the first three-quarters, moved up stoutly approaching the stretch, but was unable to close any ground during the last eighth. ISLEWORTH, outpaced early, closed a good gap lh the last quarter mile. FURFIBER had good speed, then faltered after the opening three-quarters. MAEBEAU raced well from the first five-eighths." ESPINACA raced well placed all the way and held on gamely to the end. WULFSTAN, under slight reserve until the last three-eighths, responded gamely, moved up briefly and, while holding on determinedly through the stretch, was never in a position to endanger the first two. GREAT BLAZE, on the outside rounding the first turn, made a mild bid after leaving the back stretch, but was unable to close any ground under punishment. PRINCE DEAN was unable to reach the leaders. THE MAULER raced to the leaders with a rush nearing the far turn, disposed of SCOUT ON, drew clear and, despite fighting it out willingly, was not quite good enough. TONI, hemmed in on the inside through the back stretch, was never able to reach the leaders, although finishing camely. PEEDEEQUE closed ground during the stretch run.
