JOHNSTOWN VS. EIGHT THIRTY Two Others Opposing Star Three-Year-Olds in Woodhaven Purse Today at Jamaica Course. JAMAICA, N. Y., April 24. Only four were named through the entry box for the Wood-haven Purse at Jamaica this afternoon, but if they all go to the post it should prove a great contest. It is a gallop of a mile and seventy yards and an excellent trial for the Wood Memorial, the 0,000 added prize to be decided Saturday. The four engaged are William Woodwards Johnstown, George D. Wideners Eight Thirty, Mrs. F. Ambrose Clarks Lovely Night and War Moon, which races for A. Schwartz. The interest, of course, is in the first three, each of which is in the Wood. Johnstown, since his victory in the Pau-monok, has shown somo fast mile moves. Lovely Night was winner of his only start, at the meeting, over the mile and seventy yards distance, while it will be the first outing this year for Eight Thirty. This Widener c.lt has been fitted at the Pennsylvania farm of his owner, and it was understood that he would be raced in the Chesapeake. The plan of campaign was changed to send him after the Wood and it will carry him along to the Preakness, he not having been named for the Kentucky Derby. Eight Thirty, son of Pilate and Dinner Time, was in the top flight among the juveniles of last year and in his last appearance he finished such a close contender to W. E. Boeings Porters Mite in the running of the Futurity that it took a photograph to make the decision.
